Filming Day 5

We have had to re-film all the Lincoln scenes this is because it just didn't look good enough and generally disappointing. So we reconsidered actors, locations, shots, and time of day. We now have changed the actor for the depressed man, and added another three actors two more band members the guitarist (me) and the Drummer (James) are now seen in the shots as part of the depressed man's conciousness. We also added a female actor to show the other side of the view point of the break up (Sophie). We also managed to get two cameras for our filming so we had two angles of the same shot, meaning we had variety of shots to use.
Here I am setting up for a scene where Sophie is to walk towards the cameras.

Here is Will operating the second camera to get the other view point.

Here we are filming Sophie walking towards the camera.

The three images above are of us moving the cameras to the next spot showing Will and James.

Here is Sophie

And there is me setting up in the bushes to get a better point to film.

Above is all of us doing filming just outside the Lincoln cathedral.

And here are the new actors (left) Sophie she plays the depressed woman who dumps the depressed male. (right) Kane who plays the dumped depressed male.

New Story Board

As we were re-filming the first half of the music video, we had to re-do the first half of the storyboard and instead of seeing our depressed man waking up and receiving the text and going to Lincoln, we decided to start the video in Lincoln and have our man receive the text from the girl who we also see walking around Lincoln and we have the three band members following the man around.

In this picture is all the storyboard sheets that we did in class.

In the first two storyboards are the establishment of the man and the woman and their relationship coming to an end as we had the woman texting the man saying that he's dumped and then the man recieving the text, reacting to it and then putting his earphones in and walking off.

Then in the next one we have the woman walking off down some stairs and the the band members are introduced following the man around and then the narrative bit end when the man and woman cross each other under the bridge.

Then in the final two sheets, we have the performance based scenes which is made up of lots of different shots and angles of our singer and drummer.

All the images above, are close-ups of the new storyboard and all the actions and movements that happen in a specific shot.

New Locations for New Filming

Here are map and satellite images of the area we will be refilming parts of our music video. The green markers tell you where abouts they will actually filmed.
Here is the map view of the whole area our filming will cover

And here is the arial satellite of the whole area.

First feedback

When we showed what we had done with our video so far, we were told to write down the feedback we got on what was good about our video and what we could do to improve it.
Good feedback:

  • Used alot of shot variety
  • It was very creative
  • The editing was good especially the part at the end where the piano and drums overlap with the fire
  • The singing of the song was in time with the actual song
Feedback how we can make it better:

  • We have to re-film the whole of the Linclon scene at night so we could get good lighting from the streetlights and it would compare to the other two scenes which were filmed in a dark hall and a night time
  • We have to get another actor as the one we had before went too other-the-top with his acting and he was to tall for our cameraman to film any good shots
  • Have the band members walk around with the singer and actor
  • Give a more clear view that the singer and band members can't be seen
After receiving our feedback, we knew that we had to redo alot of the filming so we decided to go and refilm the whole of the Lincoln scene at night on the 17/10/2012 so we can get the filming done and maybe start to edit it before half-term.

Week one of editing

Here is the first editing. We had added shots we have filmed and added them into the cut. We also added the song itself, we then synchronised the visuals with the sound to make sure it is in cue.
In this screenshot we am adjusting the curves (brightness and contrast) in all the dark scenes to create a deeper red and feel, it also stopped noise disturbance. We then added the same settings to all dark scenes.

Here we have added the scene where there is no music. These are quicker shots than the rest of the music, this is because the songs tempo is slow.
Here we show all the scene before the music begins.
Here we have begun to add more filming going into the song. Throughout we are thinking of match on action.

So far using Sony Vagas has been relatively easy, this meant in the first week of editing a lot has been done.
